Thyme

Thymus vulgaris / Origanum onites

Arovela supplies thyme essential oil and dried thyme leaves produced from Thymus vulgaris and Origanum onites cultivated under contract and wild-collected from maquis ecosystems along Türkiye's Mediterranean and Aegean coasts — chiefly in Denizli, Muğla, Aydın and Antalya. Türkiye ranks among the world's top three exporters of thyme/oregano oil, and Anatolian chemotypes — particularly Origanum onites ("Izmir oregano") — are accepted as benchmark grade in the global feed-additive, phytogenic functional-food and aromatherapy markets thanks to consistently high carvacrol content. Two chemotype lines are produced. The carvacrol-dominant line (Origanum onites, Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum) typically delivers 50–80% carvacrol, 3–10% p-cymene and 1–5% gamma-terpinene; the thymol-dominant line (Thymus vulgaris) shows 30–55% thymol, 10–25% carvacrol and 15–25% p-cymene, with a different sensory and functional profile. Each batch is GC-MS profiled at an accredited third-party laboratory, conforming to ISO 13171 (Thymus vulgaris CT thymol) and ISO 7928-1 (Origanum) standards. Essential oil is extracted by steam distillation in stainless cohobation stills; low-pressure operation (0.3–0.5 bar) preserves the structural integrity of thymol and carvacrol molecules. The leaf line is dehydrated in tunnel dryers at 38–42 °C, optically colour-sorted, metal-detected and calibrated. Leaf-line shipments are certified for microbiology (TAMC <10⁵, TYMC <10⁴, E. coli <100 cfu/g, absence of Salmonella), aflatoxins (B1 <2 ppb, total <4 ppb), ochratoxin A (<5 ppb), pesticide residues under EU 396/2005, and a dedicated LC-MS/MS scan for glyphosate/AMPA. B2B customer base spans: animal-health companies (carvacrol-based natural alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in poultry, methane-reduction premixes for ruminants); oral-care manufacturers (mouthwash, toothpaste, oral sprays, antiseptic lozenges); functional-food and nutraceutical brands (natural preservation systems, digestive-support capsules, antioxidant premixes); and aromatic-spice distributors (Mediterranean-style pizza/meat processing, mezze and ready-meal industry). Packaging: oil in 1 kg internally lacquered steel canisters, 5 kg and 25 kg AISI 316L stainless drums (argon-blanketed); leaf in 25 kg four-wall kraft sacks with PE liner or 10 kg food-grade kraft. Container loadings: oil 20-ft 12 t, leaf 20-ft 18–20 t. Incoterms 2020 standard: FOB Izmir/Mersin, CIF/DAP supported; EUDR-compliant origin traceability and optional USDA NOP / EU 2018/848 organic certification. MOQ oil 25 kg, leaf 100 kg; custom-chemotype distillation (75%+ carvacrol) supported on annual commitments above 1 tonne.
