Mint

Mentha piperita / Mentha spicata

Arovela supplies pure Mint essential oil and dried mint leaf from contract-grown Mentha piperita (peppermint) and Mentha spicata (spearmint) cultivated on the Seyhan-Ceyhan alluvial plains of the Çukurova region and along Türkiye's broader Mediterranean coast. Mineral-rich alluvial soils, mild Mediterranean climate and drip-irrigation infrastructure yield the characteristic cold-bitter-sharp menthol top note in peppermint and the soft-sweet carvone profile in spearmint. Türkiye ranks among the world's top five mint producers; Mediterranean-origin Mentha piperita is recognised in the international market for a more balanced essential-oil composition compared with US Pacific-Northwest or Indian crops. Two production lines are operated. Peppermint (Mentha piperita): menthol 35–48%, menthone 15–25%, menthyl acetate 3–10%, isomenthone 2–6%, 1,8-cineole 3–6%, menthofuran 1–4% (ISO 856 compliant). Spearmint (Mentha spicata): l-carvone 55–72%, limonene 10–18%, cineole 1–3% (ISO 3033-1 compliant). Harvest takes place in the early pre-bloom window during morning hours; plants are lightly wilted and transferred to the steam-distillation line within 6–8 hours. Low-pressure operation (0.4–0.6 bar) at 95–100 °C across 1.5–2-hour cycles protects menthol from thermal dehydration. Essential oil is filled into AISI 316L stainless drums under argon blanket and shipped under UN 1169 (Mint Oil) IMO code. The leaf line is dehydrated in tunnel dryers at 32–38 °C in darkened tunnels to preserve colour; it is certified for microbiology (TAMC <10⁵, TYMC <10⁴, E. coli <100 cfu/g, absence of Salmonella), aflatoxins, ochratoxin A and pesticide screening (>450 molecules under EU 396/2005, LC-MS/MS). B2B buyer segments: global oral-care manufacturers (Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Unilever and equivalent multinationals — toothpaste, mouthwash, oral sprays); chewing-gum and confectionery producers (Mondelez, Wrigley, Lotte-style gum-base industries); functional-beverage brands (mojito concentrates, mint teas, non-alcoholic cocktail bases, kombucha flavouring); pharmaceutical companies (gastric/digestive tablets, menthol inhalers/decongestants, dermatological balms); aromatherapy and natural-cosmetics laboratories (hair tonics, cooling massage gels, lip balms). Packaging: oil in 1/5/25 kg stainless drums, with 200 kg lined fibre-drum option for high-volume formulators; leaf in 25 kg kraft sacks with PE liner. MOQ oil 25 kg, leaf 100 kg; Incoterms 2020 FOB Mersin/Izmir, CIF/DAP supported. A 20-foot container carries 12 t of oil or 18–20 t of leaf.
